Position Title:   Senior Project Director - Health Management Group

Reports To:   Christy White, Principal

 

Position Overview:   

The purpose of this position is to sell, design, manage and deliver custom marketing research projects (both qualitative and quantitative) for new and existing customers that meet our clients’ strategic objectives and achieve Cogent’s revenue and profit objectives.

 

The Project Director is the primary customer contact and project lead and manages the project life cycle for multiple research projects such as brand equity and ad tracking, customer satisfaction/loyalty tracking, market segmentation and analysis, conjoint and trade-off studies, pricing studies and new product/service testing.   The Project Director is responsible for turning research data into strategic insights.

 

General responsibilities will include marketing company services, consulting with clients on research needs and objectives, developing proposals and pricing, designing research instruments and providing client management and team leadership through project execution and delivery of strategic findings/recommendations.


 

Detailed Responsibilities: 

 

Marketing & Business Development 

  • Prepare and present business-winning proposals to clients and prospects.
  • Actively participate in all new business marketing activities including client visits, conference attendance/exhibition, PR, networking and lead follow-up.
  • Effectively communicate Cogent's value proposition and market differentiators.

Relationship Development

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their strategic business needs and research objectives and design meaningful research instruments and methodologies to address these needs.
  • Deliver premiere customer service, including periodic status reports as well as prompt response to inquiries and ad hoc requests, to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Set and manage client expectations throughout the engagement process.
  • Practice consultative sales and account penetration techniques to identify and deliver add-on services.

Project Management

  • Manage vendor relationships (for outsourced project components) from initial scoping and bidding through project completion. Ensure that projects meet established deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Work with internal Data Analysts and Analytics staff to ensure quality data collection and sophisticated analysis on each project.
  • Manage/moderate focus groups and in-depth interviews as required.
  • Synthesize and interpret data sets from statistical models and cross-tabs, then translate findings into actionable recommendations that will further the client's business objectives.
  • Develop and present research findings and strategic recommendations to key constituencies within the client organization.
  • Manage/monitor the costs of each research project to obtain desired profit margins while maintaining quality standards and timelines.

Qualifications:  

 

Skills and Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience managing primary marketing research studies, preferably in the fields of life sciences or pharmaceuticals.
  • Prior experience in a marketing research or consulting firm with direct client contact is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple, concurrent projects (from inception to completion) and meeting deliverable deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the proven ability to translate data into action items and strategic recommendations.
  • Fluency with quantitative research methodologies and an interest in qualitative research methodologies.
  • Ability to build relationships with both clients and internal staff and to provide effective team leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to utilize them effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Energetic self-motivator able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience in SPSS, Wincross or other tabbing software as well as statistical methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Consultative selling, negotiation and closing skills are a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, social sciences or research with a strong academic record is required; Master's degree is a plus.

Travel

  • Some overnight travel is required.
